I've been on Univision to demonstrate how to dance salsa and bachata on their morning shows. If you're unfamiliar with Univision, they are the largest Spanish-language network in the US. And if you're still getting familiar with me, I don't speak Spanish. You might wonder, "How did Romi get on live TV when he doesn't speak the language?"I did it by smiling through the segments, nodding my head often, and letting my friends take the spotlight to speak.Sometimes, you must trust your team to make up for your weaknesses to complete the mission. With Univision, my mission was to share salsa and bachata with more people, regardless of whether we spoke the same language. Mission accomplished!PS. There's a video of me smiling through an interview and not knowing what the host said. I challenge you to find it and tag me. LOL.

It's unbelievable the number of FYI emails you get in the corporate world, especially as you progress vertically. One tip to set you apart from most colleague and peers. When forwarding emails rather than just saying FYI with a huge email chain attached below, mention in two bullets what the reason of forwarding the email is as well if any action is needed from the receiver. This simple act saves the receiver of the email at least 5-10 mns, and sets you apart.#musings #fyi #forwardingemails

Any good entertainer should be able to help you plan and organize your event for maximum audience impact, but sometimes unavoidable logistics require a performer to be flexible, and to win over a crowd that is…• eating• drinking• surrounded by distractions • not facing the stage, and• not primed to pay attention. We all prefer ideal conditions, but the true measure of an entertainer is how s/he handles a less-than-ideal scenario. Before you hire an entertainer, ask to see video of that person handling an audience that is NOT ready for “a show.” That will tell you everything you need to know.

So, continuing on Disney’s latest announcements (and yeah, I am quite literally talking about old news at this point)... In 2024, the Country Bear Jamboree will be replaced with the Country Bear Musical Jamboree. And honestly, at this point it is overdue. Disney has long stated some of the Country Bear’s original song choices haven’t aged well from today’s perspective. And the old show is too long for today’s audiences*...(*it turned too few shows per hour to reflect the park’s modern capacity needs). So, the show has already been reworked. And at that point, instead of reworking what was there, re-imagining it was probably the way to go. I expect we won’t be chasing wine with tears or shooting Bueford anymore. I am most curious what the new sound alike voices will be like. Will it go the route of the 80s shows where the voices were pretty close? Or will it go the route of the modern Muppets which… 😐We’ll find out. #letsmakeplans #disneyparks #themedentertainment #themedesign #themeparks

There's a brilliant moment in this documentary on Netflix about the making of "We Are The World" that applies directly to the advertising business. (And yes, the film is a cool blast from the past, and also a painful window into what happens in vocal sessions). At one point toward the beginning of the session, which happened overnight, Stevie Wonder (who was going to be asked to co-write the song, but didn't return Lionel Richie's calls) decides that if the song is for Africa, there should be African singing in it. He then completely sidetracks the session, coming up with vocal melodies in Swahili, singing in a foreign language, and eliciting strange looks from the likes of Dylan, Springsteen, and Richie himself. But hey, he's Stevie Wonder so you have to humor him. Many of the artists, knowing it was well after midnight, knew they had to get the session back on track. So the legendary Bob Geldof walks into the studio and looks at Stevie, collects himself, and rationally explains to him: Stevie, your heart is in the right place, but this song is not exactly for Africa, it's for people who have the money to donate to help Africa. It's a great moment in "knowing your audience" and how to speak to them. While some African lyrics would have been nice, the focus of the song was squarely on its mass appeal and its ability to strike a chord with people of all cultures (specifically, people with money). Michael Jackson mumbled a few African-sounding harmonies, and Stevie was satisfied. The session got back on track and the rest is history. It happens often when a person in power (Stevie Wonder) who has not been part of the process, swoops in and imposes his/her own thoughts into what the communication should say, without the benefit of being a part of the process. It takes a rational, respected voice (Geldof) to explain the rationale in a respectful way to get things back on track. A great study of strategy and tact.#music #advertising #strategy #wearetheworld #eighties #steviewonder #lionelrichie #bobgeldofhttps://lnkd.in/gbDYuywZ

Showering together is a simple way to boost physical and emotional intimacy, as well as other pillars. Now, if you aren’t currently showering together, you don’t have to start doing this every day.Start with once a week.Hop into the shower together for a few minutes to wash off the day and spend time alone. Or if one of you is showering, invite the other to join you!You can also try new things to make it a fun and enjoyable time together. For example, purchase a special soap, dim the lights, or put on some music. When you make it fun, it strengthens your recreational intimacy, too.Learn how to make showering together work for YOU at https://lnkd.in/gjjZBDgP
